Newsletter September 17, 2009

It was great to see a lot of you at French Market! This is always a great day for our St. Joan of Arc Parish Community. Thank you to all who helped with a booth, cooking, setting up and cleaning up.

Last week we talked about the letter Aa. We painted apples and ate them. We voted and some of us liked green apples and some liked red. More of us liked red apples. We also talked about ants. We need them because they put air into the ground and help the earth breathe.

This week we talked about the letter Bb. Ask your child why we need Bees. We had fun counting, eating, painting and reading about Bears. We even went on a Bear Hunt!

Anna reminded us to have “Happy Thoughts” all week. They all keep us smiling with their comments, stories and songs.

Next week will talk about the letter Cc. We will be going “camping” in the classroom. The weather is guaranteed to be great inside. Look for a bunch of clowns coming home too.

Mrs. Mary Ellen Dickmeyer is with us as a volunteer on Wednesdays. She brings years of experience to St. Joan of Arc. She taught preschool for many years and retired last May. She found she couldn’t stay away from the kiddos and is here teaching Handwriting without Tears to the Butterflies class. Mary Ellen has a granddaughter who will be attending St. Joan of Arc in a few years. Her youngest daughter is a freshman at Bishop Chatard High School. Thank you Mary Ellen, we love having you with us.

Today we had Babies and Bagels and Coffee with the Principal. The next Babies and Bagels is scheduled for Thursday, October 15th. Mark your calendars!

LABEL EVERYTHING:
Jackets, drink bottles, lunchboxes, etc. are coming in without labels and they may go home with the wrong boy or girl.
